According to an August 2011 report in the Wall Street Journal, more than half of property owners are paying too much in property taxes. Property values "are still going down in many markets. But your property-tax bill might well be going up," the WSJ reported. "The good news: There are ways to fight back."
Closer to home, an investigative report in The Atlanta Journal Constitution (Dec. 2009) concluded that: "Georgia's property tax system imploded with last year's historic real estate collapse. Across metro Atlanta, property values fell tens of thousands of dollars - sometimes hundreds of thousands - but tax appraisals did not follow them down."
